"Chicken Leg Syndrome" by Mary Margaret Tan

Can you guess what is one of the best compound movements for the lower body? Yep it's the squat! 😉 Squat benefits include more lower body #strength and more muscle mass-this in the long-run speeds up your #metabolism and helps to combat fat and #cellulite.


The #squat is an amazing #exercise, it works over 250 muscles in the body including your #core #muscles, #quadriceps, #hamstrings, #adductors, and oh the joy, the glute muscles, better known as our butt. 😉 If done consistently over a period of time, it can #sculpt the #legs and build an #amazing big, firm #booty. And who doesn’t want an enviable butt, ladies? 😜 Guys should be doing this too as I'm sure none of you want a bad case of #Chicken #Leg #Syndrome, right?


To initiate this exercise, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. As you execute the move, push your hips out as if you were going to sit down in a chair, keeping your chest up and head neutral. Your #back should be straight as well. To assist in keeping good form and #technique, hold your hands out in front of your body as you squat. In order to avoid putting too much stress on your knee joints, keep your knees in-line with your toes and the #knees should not go past the toes either. Keep your weight on your heels at all times. Your thighs should be parallel to the floor at the bottom of the movement. This is very important as you are #activating all of the necessary muscles for the squat and getting all the #benefits from the exercise. Inhale through your nose as you go down and hold your breath as you come back up. Once you return to starting position, #exhale through your mouth. Do 3-5 sets of 8-12 reps each and you'll really feel that burn. This is the basic squat and once it is #mastered, you can increase the weight to further #challenge your muscles and/or you can try other squat #variations to target different muscles in the #lower body and get that booty ready for next #summer. 😉 It’s never too late to start somewhere right? So by all means, squat till you drop and drop it like a squat!
